Co-opted to KSPC: 15th May 2023

Reasons for standing as a Parish Councillor

I have lived in the village since 2007, and owing to family and work commitments I have never really had time or space in my life to give back to the community.  However, I have recently finished my main working role, and with only one of our children now and home, I feel I now have the space to be more involved in the community.

King’s Somborne is a fabulous village in a wonderful part of Hampshire and we are privileged being part of this community.  I would like to think that I have a skills set as a medical practitioner that would benefit our village by becoming a parish councillor.

Experience brought to the Council

I am an NHS GP having worked at Friarsgate Practice in Winchester for 28 years as a partner of the business.  I finished there in March 2023, not to retire completely from work, but to allow me to work in a slightly different way.  I now work within Occupational Medicine via the company that my wife Helen and I set up two years ago – Kingsgate Medical Ltd.  As a medical professional and a business owner I have developed many skills, but most importantly I am a humanitarian and a strong communicator – essential requirements of being a successful GP!  I am very keen to bring my diversity of skill set to the Parish Council and give back to our village and community.
