Elected: 4th May 2023
I moved to Kings Somborne in 1977 with my late wife Carol and lived at Briar Cottage on the Winchester Road. We had three sons all of whom were brought up here and attended the primary school before going on to Test Valley School. I spent all my working life in the field of Education, firstly as a teacher of PE and History, before returning to Southampton University to undertake a Master’s Degree in Education. On graduation I remained at Southampton University as a lecturer on the Masters course, where I stayed for two years. Following this I worked for Sport England, the National Governing body of sport, on education and funding issues related to schools.
In 1995 I became an Education Officer for the Children’s Services department at Hampshire County Council working on a range of topics with schools and particularly on funding and accessing lottery and government funding. One of the local projects I obtained funding for was the sports Hall at Test Valley School.
I now live in Nutchers Drove, and have lived in the Village for over 40 years, in that time I have been a school governor at the primary school for 8 years and 5 years as a First Responder. My reason for joining the Parish Council is that I feel strongly that we should all support the community in which we live. I have a particular concern about traffic through the village and hope working with other members of the Parish Council to achieve some traffic calming measures.
